This post only proves 2 known facts: I love to wear a non-vampy red lipstick this fall and I love RuPaul! The Mac Viva Glam 1 Lipstick not only offers great formula and great pigmentation, but it also is for a good cause. All sales will support those that are infected with HIV and their families.
Mac Viva Glam 1 Lipstick is described as a matte intense brownish blue red. On my lips, it appears as a medium dark warm red with slight brown undertones. The formula is creamy enough for it not to pull or tug your lips when applied. It averages 7.5 hours of wear on me with meals and coffee breaks in between. It is non-drying and for a Mac matte lipstick, it is slightly hydrating which is quite surprising and is comparable to my Givenchy matte lipsticks formulation. It doesn’t create a line if I pressed my lips together. It doesn’t feel too heavy on my lips while wearing it. As its pigment fades, it doesn’t fill in the cracks of my lips. It is intensely pigmented but not to the point that it will make you uncomfortable for being an “in your face” red.
The Bottom Line:
It is the type of red that even if it is intense, you can still wear this to work and definitely works for all skin tones. But for medium-dark to deeper skin tones, this is definitely your kind of red as it will look more flattering with your color. I love purchasing and using Viva Glam Lipsticks because you not only get a good product but it is also for a good cause. You know where your money went to. Mac just launched for Fall 2013, Mac Retro Matte Lipsticks, and some of them are hits while others are misses. I also hope that Mac will feature RuPaul in a collection in the future.
