For the love of purple lipstick, a newly discovered obsession of mine, I’ve decided to give it a try Mac’s Smoked Purple lipstick. It is an intense dark and vampy lipstick to the delight of purple worshippers and the bold at heart.
Mac Smoked Purple lipstick is described as a deep eggplant purple with a matte finish. On my lips, it appears as a dark blue-based purple with a matte finish. It feels more matte than your average Mac Matte lipstick but not as dry as the retro mattes. It lasted for an average of 7 hours of wear on me. It does pull or tug a little bit when applied straight from the tube across my lips. It is vividly pigmented with one swipe. It starts to become patchy towards the 8th hour of wear. It does left a stain within the next 3 hours or so. It is non-drying during the first 5 hours and starts to feel drying after the 6th hour. It is a non-hydrating lipstick formula.
The Bottom Line:
Overall, it is very comfortable to wear for a deeper shade matte lipstick from Mac. In comparison, Mac Cyber is slightly darker with a satin finish. It is easier to wear than the other deeper shades of mattes and retro mattes from Mac such as: Mac Fixed on Drama and Mac Talk that Talk. If you would prefer blackened red lipstick, I recommend Mac Sin. I just love wearing vampy lipsticks this fall paired with teals and purple eyes instead of the usual pin-up neutrals.
