I just received on the mail my Ipsy July 2013 Glam Bag. I’ve subscribe to IPSY since January of this year and it has always been a Hit or Miss journey. There are months you get a awesome bag where everything is great, there’s also months that it’s just a plain “MEH”. But I always remind myself that it only costs $10 and you get what you paid for. For this month, I received 5 deluxe sample sizes from July’s Ipsy Featured brands.
I do love this month’s bag, which is different from its usual bags, because I can use this to store my lip and eyeliner pencils when I travel. So here are my first impressions and reviews with this month’s glam bag.
1. Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon – C
In my bag, I got the Rose Romance shade. I described this as a warm muted rosy brown. It did looked flattering for my skin tone and does give me that nude lips but not to the extent that “I looked sick” lips (If you get what I mean). My only complaint for this product is that it is super drying even if the moisture in the air is pretty high. I do commend its packaging and ease of use, since they made it into a retractable pencil, wherein you don’t have to sharpen it. This wore for an average of 3 hours on me and it doesn’t stain. It starts to dry out my lips for as short as an hour.
2. Benefit Benetint Rose-tinted lip & cheek Stain – D
This product is plain watery not even runny. It feels like a fluid with a stain in it. I am even having a hard time doing the swatches because it wouldn’t just stop from dripping. I can’t even imagine wearing this on my face, over my foundation or BB cream, as it will definitely move it due to its watery consistency. I hope Benefit would change their formulation for this coz I believe so much on the company to make it better. I do own skincare products from them and a makeup palette and they are great. I don’t know if this is a bad batch or the product is just BAD from the start. This just fails me.
3. Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray – A
I have purchased and used this product for the past couple months, and I just loved it! I even brought it to Hawaii for our vacation. I am so happy I got this in my bag and saves me money from repurchasing it. It does live up to everything it claims. It is perfect for my coarse, chemically-treated dry hair and is a life saver when you are in sunny humid place like the beach.
4. Coola Mineral Sunscreen SPF 20 – C
What I love about this product is that it is unscented, organic and caters to the vegan community. But it was just an “okay” product. It does its job, may not be the best I’ve tried and definitely not the worst. I use this ‘lil squeeze tube bottle for 3 days and I didn’t have any allergic reaction nor tingling sensation. Another plus is it’s non-greasy. I just hope they will amp up on the SPF to at least SPF 35. Just my preference for the summer.
5. BH Cosmetics California Collection palette – C
I love it if I receive eyeshadows from IPSY’s Glam Bag. This palette is too powdery which tends to give a lot of fall outs and the pigmentation is not the best. But if you compared it, with eyeshadow palettes of the same price range as this, this is a better option. However, from the 3, I love Malibu the best! It does compliments well with my skin tone and I can definitely use this as an accent or main lid color. My problem with the other 2 colors: Hollywood and San Francisco, they are just very sheer and less pigmented. The colors are great but they need to pop.
So here are my swatches both Indoors and Outdoors from Top to Bottom: Malibu, San Francisco and Hollywood. Malibu is a warm yellow gold with micro shimmer in a satin finish. San Francisco is a brownish taupe with micro shimmer in a semi-matte finish. Hollywood is purple on a blue base in a matte finish.
So what do you think of this month’s Ipsy July 2013 Glam Bag? If you do have the Ipsy Glam Bag susbcription, what products did you get?
