In all honesty, I’ve been going back and forth if I should write a post today. My allergies have bothered me for the past 3 days now. I am not trying to act too defensive but I apologized that in my photos below, my eyes are blood shot red and watery. I am not on dope! Which reminds me of a slogan at school in the 90’s “Say Nope to Dope!” Well in today’s post we are not talking about dope but another haul from the Mac Toledo Collection, Mac Barbecue. The formula is dope but can easily be duped! That’s some grandpa joke served right there. Anyways, it’s a tomato red lipstick that has slight yellow undertones to it. And that means, “Say Hello! On your yellow teeth”. Since most of the reds from this collection are either pinkish to deep, I just settled on an orange red shade. It’s something I can wear to Coachella.
Mac Barbecue lipstick is characterized as a vivid orange red with a matte finish. At least this shade was able to live up to its name. Reminds me of the barbecue pulled pork I had for supper. Unlike Mac Oxblood which still baffles me why they named it as such rather than an Ox hide. Moving on, this appears on my lips as a warm medium mandarin red with a matte finish. It lasted for almost 5.5 hours of wear on me. It is consistent in formula and texture with the latest Mac matte lipsticks formula. It feels really lightweight and doesn’t pull nor tug when applied straight from the bullet. It is also extremely pigmented that a single layer is all you need to make it fully opaque. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula which never bleeds or turns patchy. It also left a minor stain which lasted for almost 2 hours.
The Bottom Line:
Like what I’ve said in my previous post on Mac Oxblood, I only got interested with just 2 lipsticks from this collection. I was even planning on skipping it, but the rubberized cute tube packaging is such a keeper. Mac Barbecue will be perfect for an ombre orange lips to wear this summer. It also pulls more red than orange on me so I can definitely just wear only this lipstick during my “lazy to do a full face make up” days. Dupes are: Mac Mangrove, Mac So Chaud and Mac True Red. These are very close in color that it’s even hard to distinguish from each other. I might check out in stores tomorrow the ombre blushes if they will show up on my skin. They photographed really well but I have some doubts that my skin tone will absorb its full glory. What are your hauls from this collection?
