If you are just like me who missed Laura Mercier Spellbound, looks like Laura Mercier just launched a very similar product in Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator. The latter is a little pinkish and less warm toned. But when worn most especially if you got olive to deeper skin tones, it would not change anything. I love highlighters! If you are an avid reader of this blog, you probably knew that “fun fact” by now. Speaking of women of color, Empire just had its 2-hour season finale last Wednesday. I’m gonna miss them for a few months and wait for the season to premier in the fall. I love Taraji P. Henson‘s makeup on that show in every episode. Her makeup artist is Ashunta Sheriff which I had the opportunity to sit in her class in last year’s The Makeup Show Chicago. Next time I’ll catch her in the makeup show, I’ll have my questions ready with regards to the tips and tricks in doing Ms. Taraji’s makeup. Now back to Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator. I do think this is a limited edition shade for Spring and Summer. I know Sephora Chic Week is coming up. I’d rather get this now and save the permanent highlighters for the sale. It might sell out during the sale and you’ll have regrets later and end up splurging on ridiculously priced items on eBay.
Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator is characterized as a soft rose gold with shimmer. On my skin, it appears as a cool champagne gold with shimmer. It went on for almost 9.5 hours of wear on me before signs of fading begin to start. The texture is very finely milled but I notice a little bit of crumbling with a finger swatch but barely noticeable when a brush is then used. The pigment is not particularly intense but you can absolutely build this up if you wanted more shimmer. The nice thing with it, you can just use your regular highlighter brush instead of a fan brush with a light hand. Fewer chances of overdoing it. I applied 2 layers of the highlighter to reach the amount of opacity and shimmer that I’ve wanted. I also love the pressed waves design which makes the powder very intact to the pan instead of being too dry and end up crumbling in pieces. I commended Laura Mercier’s formula for minimizing the crumbling and being too powdery even with the pressed wave pattern which became an epic fail to some brands who released the same concept.
The Bottom Line:
Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator is a delicate finely milled highlighter than can be built up to a full metallic shimmer. This constitutes one of the best highlighters which came out this Spring 2015. I highly recommend this getting to all my women of color. It shows up on our skin and it’s beautiful. I have a lot of highlighters/illuminators both pressed and liquid in my stash. I usually rotate them every 2 weeks. For those who don’t work on me, I gave them to my family and friends. I do not want to just throw them away if I’ve only used it just a couple times. On my look below, I used Chanel Reve d’ Orient on my eyes (review), Dior MyLady Cannage 007 on my cheeks (review), Buxom Dolly Lipstick, Sephora Contour 101 Face Palette for contour (review) and Guerlain Baby Glow in Dore as my foundation (review). Side by side comparisons includes: Becca Rose Gold, Bobbi Brown Bronze Glow, Becca Blushed Copper, Nars Hot Sand and Guerlain Poudre de Soie. Did you get the gorgeous Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator? Any thoughts?
