It seems the makeup industry is filled with anything purple lately. It began with purple lipsticks, purple eyebrows, now purple blushes. So what’s next? A purple foundation? Haha. Urban Decay Bittersweet Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush is surprisingly, a non-intimidating, very wearable blush. It got strong pink undertones, so you are left with magenta pink cheeks not the blue-based ones. Urban Decay just launched 12 new blushes for Summer 2015. These blushes are cruelty free, permanent and does not include talc. Although, they do contain Mica if you are “iffy” with it, these could be a pass. I only find Bittersweet and Rapture as the 2 unique shades. I haven’t ordered Rapture, might pick it up in the future. I’m currently on a “no buy” month. Hopefully, it continues for a month! Haha. Keep an eye on the air quotes.
Urban Decay Bittersweet Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush is characterized as a bright purple. It appears on my skin as a neutral purple with intense pink undertones and a satin finish. It went on for over 9 hours of wear on my dry skin. That is even beyond the expected length of wear. However, this may last a little bit shorter if you got oily skin. The texture is finely milled, buttery and no hints of being dry. I used a kabuki brush to apply and there are marginal signs of crumblings around the rim of the pan. This blush is very pigmented so it is better to start sheer. However, since this is a pink-based blush even if you overdid the application it will look magenta pink than a bruised purple. This is still a fail proof blush. Don’t get fooled with the purple pan since it doesn’t look like that at all once it touches my brown skin.
The Bottom Line:
Urban Decay Bittersweet Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush is a keeper. At $26, the overall quality of this blush is at par with the higher end brands which cost $45 and up. If you already have a lot of blushes, I highly recommend Urban Decay Bittersweet Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush as a great addition since this is very unique and fewer chances of getting duped.
