Hello beautiful netizens of the world! Today’s post is all about dark matte lips which is very appropriate, in my opinion, for fall. I prefer wearing dark vampy lips during the colder months paired with bare eyes, zero eye makeup. Mac Deep Love Lipstick is a plum brown matte lipstick which just launched as part of the Mac Macnificent Me Collection. I feel this collection is so underrated and didn’t get as much press when compared with other Mac collections. I was able to find quite a few dupes which are very, very similar to this. So, if you already owned any of the dupes, you may skip on getting this one. ColourPop Nevermind is one the latest matte lipsticks from the brand. I love the color range of this brand and as a bonus, they are very affordable but of better quality. This shade is also easily duped but when compared with the dupes, it’s the cheapest alternative, which is something to think about.
Mac Deep Love Lipstick is described as a “brown wine.” It appears on my lips as a dark plum brown with strong warm undertones and a matte finish. It lasted for over 7 hours and left a burgundy stain for an extra 3 hours. It is non drying during the first 5 hours but feels slightly drying after the 7th hour. It applies smoothly without pulling or tugging. It is very pigmented in a single pass but has a tendency to get patchy after the 7th hour. The formula is consistent with the newly reformulated Mac matte lipsticks. It’s one of the best vampy shades to wear for fall on women of color.
ColourPop Nevermind Lippie Stix is characterized as a “deep blackened violet.” It appears on my skin as a deep purple with strong red undertones and a matte finish. It lasted for almost 4.5 hours and left a dark fuchsia stain for the next 2 hours. It is patchy when applied straight from the stick. It also feels drying after wearing this for just an hour. It feels tacky too which is very unusual for a matte finish. Since I was having issues in wearing this alone, It did worked much better when I used this as a base and layer a lighter beige lipstick on top, like Anastasia Pure Hollywood or Jefree Star Celebrity Skin.
The Bottom Line:
Like what I’ve said earlier, if you already owned any of dupes listed, no need to get Mac Deep Love and ColourPop Nevermind. But if you haven’t, these 2 are the cheapest alternatives to the dupes. ColourPop Nevermind never worked well for me and it was very demanding in terms of prep and reapplying to even it out during the course of its wear. Mac Deep Love is a must have for fall and is very comfortable to wear especially during the colder, drier months. I also love wearing this shade if I get lazy to fix myself and do a full face makeup. Dupes for Mac Deep Love include: LimeCrime Salem, Chanel Erik and Mac Antique Velvet. Dupes for ColourPop Nevermind include: Mac Cyber, Mac Living Legend and Mac Smoked Purple. Until next time…
