How’s it going on your side of the world? Waving “hello” from my keyboard across the interwebs. Lime Crime Shroom Velvetines is nothing new but they just had a sale a few weeks ago, so why not give this a shot for a fraction of the original price. Black Moon Cosmetics is a new indie brand which is gaining a lot of popularity on Instagram, which got me curious to try one of the 4 new liquid lipsticks they just launched. They are such a new company that their website barely loads on my screen. You can still order thru it but the texts just takes time to load. I picked up Black Moon Libra since the other 3 are something I can’t wear every day and it already got a dupe in my drawer which I rarely reach for.
Lime Crime Shroom is described as a “90s brown.” It appears as a warm mahogany brown with an orangey undertones and matte finish. It lasted for an average of 5.5 hours. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula that feels very lightweight. This is a more “fluid” liquid lipstick than creamy. It is moderately opaque that it only takes a single dip to get a full coverage. It is very easy to apply with the doe-foot applicator without dripping. It’s a nice color to mix with a cool toned beige or a greige that tends to make you look “washed” off. It never turns patchy or feels drying throughout the course of its wear.
Black Moon Cosmetics Libra is characterized as “the most balanced nude, has the perfect balance of beige, brown, gray and pink”. It appears as a warm medium antique rose with a matte finish. It lasted for almost 6 hours on me. The texture is creamy but quickly dries into a flat matte in just a few seconds. I really like the formula which is not as creamy as Kat Von D but not as fluid as Lime Crime‘s. This new company has a lot of potential to thrive and gain a lot of following in a very competitive industry. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula which is also very lightweight. It never gets patchy or drying during its wear time.
The Bottom Line:
Lime Crime Shroom is a nice addition to my velvetines collection. Most of the velvetines I “skipped” are those shades which I would not see myself wearing them often. Black Moon Libra is also a nice addition to my growing “antique rose” lip colors, which at the stage of my career right now, will be a go to shade “safe for work.” I will still review “funky” shades but I will really have to assess if its unique or the formula is one of a kind. I will test them during my days off since they are NSFW’s! Dupes for Lime Crime Shroom include: Coloured Raine Capuccino, Mac Shitake, and Christian Louboutin Zoulou. Dupes for Black Moon Cosmetics Libra include: Coloured Raine Mars, Christian Louboutin Zoulou, Dose of Colors Stone, Mac Oxblood, Mac Honeylove, Mac Boca, Kat Von D Bow N Arrow, Mac Pander and Mac Velvet Teddy. Until next time…
