Hello fellow netizens of the world! I heard your messages on social media asking me about my thoughts on the new matte lipsticks for holiday 2015 from Dior and Chanel. Honestly, these shades are dupeable. Some dupes are inexpensive while others are AS expensive or even twice as much. Fall just started this past weekend where we start to feel colder evenings and almost “frosty” mornings. Chanel La Mysterieuse and Dior Fascinante are both warm dusty rose matte lipsticks which are not your typical frosted red lipstick for the holidays. The formula are very comfortable and lightweight which are worth keeping if you don’t own any of the listed dupes below. If you are a bonafide collector for anything dusty rose, these 2 are worth the addition to your collection, but if you aren’t and you owned the dupes, these can be a skip!
Chanel La Mysterieuse Rouge Allure Velvet is described as a “copper rosewood.” It appears on my lips as a warm dusty rose with strong brown undertones and a matte finish. It lasted for almost 5.5 hours of wear and left a faint pink stain. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula which feels very lightweight. It applies smoothly without dragging or pulling. It is very pigmented even on a single pass. The formula is very consistent with the rest of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets which by far is one of the best high end matte lipstick formula.
Dior Diorific Mat Fascinante Lipstick appears on my lips as a warm slightly bright rose with peach undertones. It lasted for almost 4.5 hours of wear on me. It is a non drying formula during the first hours and starts to feel drying after the 4th hour. It is very opaque that I only needed a single layer for a full lip coverage. It also turns slightly patchy after the 5th hour. I’ve applied a lip balm during that time since its dryness just made me really uncomfortable. A plus point is the limited edition packaging diorific packaging which I always look forward to every holiday and worth collecting. Although it can be harder to stow because of its shape.
The Bottom Line:
So for those antique/dusty rose fans out there, Chanel La Msyterieuse and Dior Fascinante are great additions to your growing collection. If you only have a budget for one lipstick, I recommend getting Chanel La Mysterieuse. Dior Fascinante is just not that comfortable to wear as compared with Chanel La Mysterieuse but the packaging looks festive. If budget is tight, take a look at the dupes below and maybe you already own at least one of them. I am skipping the Dior Holiday 2015 eyeshadow quint because they are always a hit and miss and often times a miss which my $65 goes right off the drain. I am definitely getting the Chanel Holiday 2015 eyeshadow quad which is only available at Chanel.com right now and on pre-order at Nordstrom’s. I like getting some coins back from MrRebates so I prefer to shop at retailers than the brand’s website. Dupes for Chanel La Mysterieuse include: Coloured Raine 24Sven, Christian Louboutin Rococotte, Charlotte Tilbury Bond Girl, LimeCrime Riot and LA Splash Latte Confession. Dupes for Dior Fascinante include: Christian Louboutin Rococotte, Kat Von D Double Dare, Inglot 425 and Coloured Raine 24Sven. Until next time…
