Hello fellow netizens of the world! I know a few of you guys wanted me to post ASAP my thoughts on the new Lime Crime Velvetines in Squash, most especially its pigmentation. ColourPop on the other hand just launched new cream gels and liners but I don’t think I’ll be getting them this soon. Most of the colors I like were already sold out at this time. Lime Crime also launched 2 new Velvetines in Pumpkin and Cement, which I am equally unsure if I should get those. Lime Crime Pumpkin looks like a burnt and warmer version of Lime Crime Riot. Most of the fall collections were either released since last month, just launched and only a handful that hasn’t formally launched yet.
ColourPop More Better Ultra Matte Lipstick is described as a deep violet wine. It is displayed as a warm berry red with slight purple undertones. It went on for almost 7 hours without smudging. It left a stain for an extra 3 hours. It can be a challenge to remove it with a regular makeup remover that I need to dip it with olive oil to remove it completely. It is extremely pigmented that a single dip from the tube is more than enough to cover my entire lips. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula. This is a drier matte formula as compared to Lime Crime Velvetines.
Lime Crime Squash Velvetines is characterized as a “glow stick orange” with a matte finish. It appears on my lips as a bright orange with bright warm undertones. It DOES look like the color of the squash veggie. It lasted for almost 3.5 hours and did not leave any stain on the lips. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula. The pigment is inferior as compared with the other Lime Crime Velvetines I’ve tried. I need to apply at least 3 layers for it to be fully opaque on my lips. It also feels patchy after the first hour of wear. The formula, however, is still very consistent with the rest of the Velvetines. It very fluid when first applied and turns to matte when it dries in about 30 seconds after application. It applies smoothly with the doe foot applicator without pulling or dripping. It has that signature Velvetines scent of sweet vanilla cake batter.
The Bottom Line:
ColourPop More Better is a gorgeous berry shade for fall which is more berry than red. The name is gramatically incorrect which can be justified to be politically correct. I was able to mix both ColourPop More Better and Lime Crime Squash and love the burnished berry after effect. Lime Crime is the first to launch in the market liquid to matte lipsticks which is now very popular that even big makeup brands were trying hard to copy the formulation. I still have to review Lime Crime Jinx and will post soon my thoughts on ColourPop Bad Habit. Please do connect with me on social media where all the latest makeup launch discussions. Dupes for ColourPop More Better include: Bite Barberry, Anastasia Craft, Mac Hollywood Cerise, Guerlain Gladys, Nars Fanny, Mac Acai, Mac Rebel, Tom Ford Black Dahlia, Sephora Blackberry Sorbet, Melt Dark Room and Mac Fashion Revival. Until next time…
