Hello fellow netizens of the world! This post was supposed to be posted yesterday but I need to redo some of my photos since I didn’t watermarked them. So I just posted the Jeffree Star Androgyny and Doll Parts sneak peeks instead. I was having “lips peeling” issues with the LA Splash Catrina while ColourPop Bumble is an excellent formula with better pigment and increased longevity. I do have 4 more ColourPop Ultra Matte Lipsticks which I haven’t reviewed yet. Sometimes, new limited edition lipsticks comes in the way and overtook my “To Post” queue. LA Splash Catrina is considered as one of those wearable greens. It looks more metallic olive and looks gorgeous on brown skin.
LA Splash Catrina Studio Shine Lip Lustre appears on my lips as a metallic, mossy olive green. It dries to a matte finish in as little as 20 seconds. It is very pigmented but tends to become patchy after 4 hours of wear. It lasted for almost 6.5 hours of wear and left a brownish stain on my lips. It does have a little paint thinner smell which I did strongly noticed in LA Splash Latte Confession. How I wished LA Splash will just make these unscented or at least do something with the smell. I’ve also tried using this as an eyeliner on my lids not on my waterline. Just too risky to apply it in that area. I’ve also used this as an eyeshadow base especially underneath a glitter pigment.
ColourPop Bumble Ultra Matte Lipstick is described as a warm dusty terracotta. It appears as a warm peachy rose on my lips. It lasted for almost 6 hours and left a pinkish stain which lasted for an extra 2 hours. The pigment is very excellent and never turns patchy. It was never streaky or crumbly. The formula is creamy but feels lightweight after it dries.
The Bottom Line:
ColourPop Bumble is warmer and more peachy than your typical dusty rose, which is a very popular lip color these days. LA Splash Catrina is not for everyone. But this is one of the wearable bold colors I’ve tried. My only issue with this one is for it being patchy and the drier weather is not much of a help. These 2 are some of the most affordable liquid lipsticks in the pool. ColourPop Bumble was one of the first ones to sell out when they first got launched. Thank goodness they are permanent. LA Splash Catrina works best when worn in a short period of time and if the humidity is high. And it’s also very effective as an eye makeup rather than a lipstick.
