Hello fellow netizens of the world! It’s been a few days since I’ve last blogged. It’s tough to juggle my time for my family, with work and my hobbies such as this. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging. But just too much going on for too little time. I no longer proof read my posts. I just go with the flow. So I apologize if you read grammatical errors from current and previous posts. Let’s change gears and move forward with my reviews on Kylie Cosmetics Kourt K Lipstick and Mac Charlotte Olympia Retro Rouge Lipstick. Both of these looked “dupable” at first look, but surprisingly I wasn’t able to find similar shades from my hoard. By the way, I’m still on a hang over with the awful season finale for The Walking Dead. I’ll be in Atlanta to visit the set this coming October. Yay!
Kylie Cosmetics Kourt K Liquid Lipstick is appears on my lips as a dark plum with strong red undertones. It dries quickly to a matte finish in about 15 seconds tops. So you better be quick when you apply it. It lasted for almost 6.5 hours of wear. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula during the first 5 hours but starts to flake and feels really dry after the 6th hour. It is very pigmented that a single dip, then rimmed around the mouth of tube is the perfect amount to cover my entire lips. The lip liner breaks easily which can be very frustrating to use but a great business move for the Kardashians. You’ll spend more time sharpening the pencil than actually wearing it. I do like the pleasant fruity vanilla cake batter scent of the lipstick. As soon as it sets, it feels very lightweight like second skin. It left a stain for an extra 4 hours but never too hard to remove with just a regular makeup remover.
Mac Charlotte Olympia Retro Rouge Lipstick is characterized as a matte deep brown red. It appears as a warm maroon with red undertones. It’s lighter than what I initially thought it would be. It lasted for an average of 5.5 hours of wear. It is very comfortable to wear for a matte lipstick. It is a non drying, non hydrating formula. It is absolutely pigmented even on a single pass. The packaging looks very cheap. It’s made of thin plastic that you need to be careful not to drop it or else it will definitely shatter. Maybe this is Mac’s move to keep the price at $18 instead of $30. I prefer for Mac to just stick to the black bullet that resembles a “tampon” for a lipstick tube.
The Bottom Line:
Mac Charlotte Olympia Retro Rouge Lipstick is a purchase I can’t even justify why I got it. Sure, it’s $18 but not really a need for me. I was just curious with how the packaging looks in real life. The shade is a warm shade of red with slight yellow undertones which has the tendency to make your teeth look yellow. This is not a bad product but it is one of those things that you can always leave and live without. Kylie Cosmetics Kourt K, however, is not too bad of a product but definitely not the best there is on the market today. The hype just made these lipsticks covetable but the performance is very similar to other lipstick brands who offer vegan and cruelty liquid to matte lipsticks. The lip liner is a waste of time and money. It kept breaking. A piece of advice: don’t buy Kylie Cosmetics on eBay as she always restocks and it seems on a weekly basis now. Until next time…
